Monson-Sultana School students love to sing! Every K-5 student is actively involved in music and a high percentage of students entering 6th grade audition for the 6-8th grade choirs. The 6-8th grade choirs have received consistent Unanimous Superior Ratings at CMEA Festivals, have performed at The CMEA Convention in Sacramento, The ACDA Western Division Convention Interest Session in Anaheim, Magic Music Days at Disneyland, The Ronald Reagan Library, and The Central Coast Choral Festival in San Luis Obispo where they have received the Top Adjudicators Award for Choral Excellence.
Choir members have performed with County Honor Choirs as well as 2 ACDA Western Division Honor Choirs and 3 National ACDA Honor Choirs. The Music Department has been featured in an educational DVD produced by The State of California Board of Education and have performed for Service Clubs, Retirement homes, The Performing Arts Council Summit, and The Tulare County Women's Trade Club which included 600 women from Tulare County. Every December our Music Department presents Spectacular Concerts which include all our musicians performing on stage! Every concert is standing room only and the performance is a highlight of the year for our community. Monson-Sultana School recently celebrated The Star Spangled Banners 200th Birthday and our 6-8th Grade Choir was featured on a local television station.
Monson-Sultana School is a true example of what can happen when there is discipline and a high standard for excellence. It is proof that a successful music program is attainable in a small rural community.
